I love Christmas.
No, I mean, I like, LOVE Christmas.
I worked in retail through college and it kind of killed my Christmas spirit, but it came back quickly. And with a vengeance.
I love the music, I love buying gifts (which I can never keep a secret long enough for the recipient to open), I love decorating, I love baking (in theory, I don't do this!), and most of all the tradition.
But most important, I love that for one time a year, you can't ignore the real reason for the season. That people come together to praise our Lord for His most precious gift.
Our family has a few traditions that I can't wait to instill in my little family. Church on Christmas Eve (candlelit service, I die), reading the Bible Christmas Story and "The Night Before Christmas" before bed on Christmas Eve, opening one small gift the night before, and waking up to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus before we can open presents on Christmas Day.
Those traditions are so important to me and as we decorated this year, I couldn't help but get choked up about the fact that next year, it's this families turn to start our own traditions.
Well, as many as I can get Mr. Perfect to hop on board for!
What are some traditions you guys do each year?
I worked retail for quite some time too. I worked for 15 yrs at a catalog that was really busy from September up to Christmas Eve. Then after that I worked at a little boutique in my hometown. It can be daunting but Christmas is special.

ReplyDeleteI love Christmas too!!!!!! I have been listening to Christmas music since the middle of November :) We do a lot of the same traditions, but we also always get pizza on Christmas eve and play games too. Then after all of that we usually drive around and sing Christmas songs in the car while looking at Christmas lights. My church growing up didn't have a Christmas Eve service (that is a long story), but anyway my hubby and I go now when we can. His family used to even make a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Day.
