The baby bonanza has hit the big time in Coastal Town, GA. My good friend, KW, had her sweet precious Gabby last Wednesday and I am in love. She's absolutely perfect. Our friend, KP, the Marine, and the husbands went to see her last Wednesday night. Both Mom and daughter were doing excellent. Gabby's temperature had gotten a little low so the docs wanted her to be in constant contact with KW, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have set her down even if the docs said she could!! It's amazing how much one little one can change your life in one minute. I can't wait for my turn!
Since the Marine is still in town, we got the old "crew" together for some Mexican food. Not quite as rambunctious as it once was (I guess we really are growing up!), but I sure do love getting together with everyone. Always a blast.

KW & I with the boys
And don't worry. The younger boys did it like old times when they pounded beers and played Rock Band til four in the morning. Seriously... do these kids work?!?
Kidding. But I was totally pissed I couldn't join in the fun. Jobs stink.
The Marine and I also trucked it out to our hometown for a football game last Friday. I do not remember high schoolers acting the way the way they do now when I was in school. I swear we were more grown up.
But we didn't look like some of the girls now. What is in these kids food?!
He was super thrilled to be at the game.
Seriously, he was.
I got to go visit KW and Miss Gabby this past Tuesday. Oh. My. Soul. She's gorgeous!
Such a good baby...
Currently the hubs and the boys are building a storage unit in our backyard, so my house has become a frat house of sorts. I literally had to climb over bodies to make my way to work this morning. And the storage unit.. oh the storage unit. Have you ever noticed that even the smallest of projects turns into something humongous when you get a group of guys together?! I thought I was getting a storage unit. I was so wrong. In my backyard is a mini Taj Mahal. No joke. I'll show you pictures.
Hope everyone is having a great week! I'm trying to get back in the blogging swing of things. Let's see how this works =)

i need a breather...
This month has been insane. It's almost October and I have no idea where September went. Maybe it's because I turned 27 this month. Old age does tend to make the mind go...
Kidding. Kind of.
We've had family or friends staying at our house every night for the last 3 weeks. Our current tenant is the Marine. Now I love my brother, but I have to close the door to my guest room currently so as not to cry when I walk by and see my perfectly decorated room covered in boy stuff. Either that, or I run by the open door really fast with eyes averted. I don't know how I'll ever live with a teenager.
We've had someone at the house every night. Every. Night.
I love company, I love games, I love good food, but I miss my quiet nights curled up on the couch with Mr. Perfect. I miss my tv shows. I miss my slow quiet life!!!
I need some Mr. Perfect time. We've both been falling into bed exhausted every night. I barely remember what it's like to hug that man.
But I'm so thankful for this time with the bro before he heads to A-stan. And I guess I can breathe in October.... It's just a few days away!

tuesday tidbits
First off, you guys rock with all the recipe suggestions! Now.. to just try one. Yikes. =)
I have given myself a claw hand from far too many hours on Beatles Rockband. I need to find a more productive way to spend my afternoons. And evenings.
Dancing with the Stars is back. Yay! But Donnie Osmond? Gag me with a spoon. I really don't know if I can handle another episode with him. I think I'm going to have too though. Boo.
It's baby shower fever time here in my area of town and I'm going crazy trying to keep decorations, food, gifts and all for the two I'm throwing separate. It looks like a Babies-r-us threw up in our living room. Nice analogy huh?
The Marine is in town and the two of us are headed to our high school alma mater for a game Friday nite. Should be quite the time. Except that I went to high school in a one stop light town where everyone knows everyone and I usually hate running into tons of people I know. Yea. I'm weird, but I feel like I have to make conversation and gah.. I stink at that.
That's about it. I'm going to get ready for bed and watch my tv in bed tonite. I love Fall tv!

domestic fail(ure)
Ok. Confession time. I am the most un-domestic housewife ever. Not even sure if that is a word, but it should be. And it should be my middle name.
I've made no secret of the fact that I cannot cook. It's ridiculous how lacking I am in culinary skills. I actually have almost zero desire to even step near the kitchen.
I copy down recipes all the time that I would love to try. Or I read about how you guys menu plan and think "I could totally do that". Did I mention I also don't grocery shop? So those recipes? Couldn't even tell you where they end up.
Well I've decided to give this domestic diva thing one more shot. I'm not going nuts and saying I'll have a meal waiting on the hubs every nite, but maybe I'll start cooking once a week or so. What I need from you ladies is good, quick, EASY (stress that!!) recipes that you use. And if you got any inspiration laying around, well, pass some of that this way to please!! I figure Mr. Perfect deserves one nite a week off from the kitchen huh?! Thanks in advance!

Week(end) Wrap-Up
Wow. What a week.
My parents came into town last weekend and spent the week with us. We hung around the house a lot, did some shopping, a lot of eating, and some movie watching. Great relaxing week but a busy week. I was exhausted come Sunday night.
This weekend was a blast! Friday was my birthday. After the cupcake incident (which I neglected to tell y'all I had an entire cake of my own also- not such a martyr for giving up the one cupcake now am I?!), we headed back to the house for my birthday dinner with my family. Mr. Perfect cooked snow crab legs (my choice!), and we had a seafood fest for dinner.
Us on my birthday
The cat wishing me a Happy Birthday.. right.
Some family...
Miss Lacy's birthday is the same time as mine. I got my precious baby girl for my birthday four years ago! Isn't she gorgeous!!
After dinner and cake, we busted out my present from my incredible husband; Beatles Rockband. Oh. I. Heart. Seriously, if you don't own this yet, you need to run to the nearest store and get it immediately. Just sayin'.
Love it!
My parents left Saturday, and I vegged out on the couch for the rest of the day. Seriously, I think I may have moved about 5. My BFF from college, AP, came down for my birthday and we met a couple of my girlfriends downtown for dinner. The food was delicious. The company was incredible. We didn't stay out long (when did I get so old?!?), but we had a great time! I got some super fun jewelry from KT & Turs- they totally know me! I have the greatest friends!
AP & I before dinner.
Dinner downtown at Tantra. So good!

Sunday was spent trying to chill out a bit before the week started. We failed miserably. I had to go meet up with two of the bests to plan my friend KP's baby shower. My friend KW is also pregnant and is due like next week so we're in crunch time. We might have spent more time chowing down on Mexican food than actually planning the shower. Whoops!
With KW and KP. How cute are they?! Sorry I look horrible, but had to post what could be our last prego pic of KW.
Mr. Perfect and I headed over to KW's after lunch and helped her and her hubs put the finishing touches on Miss Gabby's nursery. If KW's daughter is anything like her, she was just waiting on her room to be done and could now come any time!! We joked she'd probably come that night.
She didn't.
Thankfully I got to sleep late this morning since I didn't have to be at work til late. I might have let Miss Lacy crawl up in the bed with me when her dad left this morning.
Or I might not have. Ahem...
Such a great weekend. Now to just make it through the week!!

scenes from a marriage.
The other day for my birthday, the Mister and I picked up 6 Coldstone cupcakes as a snack. After picking them up, we stopped by my friend KP's workplace and let her have one. She picked the cake batter one. Super delicious.
On the way home (with only 5 cupcakes left- only one cake batter), the Mister, whose been doing Atkins, tells me he's going to cheat for my birthday and have a cupcake. I tell him, of course you should!
Then he picks the last cake batter.
I could feel my bottom lip practically hit my feet as I looked at him with wide eyes and said "But I WANT the cake batter!!".
We're sitting at a stop light so the Mister looks at me calm as anything and says "How will I ever handle 2 children?"
Huh?
He explains that when we do have a child it will be his second, as he's already dealing with me as his first.
Nice...
I sucked my lip back in, sat up straight, and pretended that 2 year old whine did not come out of my mouth.
And when we got home, I let him eat the last cake batter cupcake. Pretty big of me huh?!

whoop whoop!!
Tomorrows my birthday, yay!
And I'm pretty sure the hubs got me Beatle's Rockband.
Score. I love him!!!
Work is insane lately. My family has been in town all week. So needless to say, I have been swamped.
I'm off tomorrow though. =)
Three day weekend again. Yep. Happy Birthday to me!

Dear People
Ok People. You're killing me. I know I cannot be the only person in America whose tired of opening her mailbox weekly and seeing a Gosselin staring her in the face. Enough of the he said/she said bull. It is not that slow of a work week that Jon & Kate deserve a People cover, let alone multiple ones! Can we please talk about something else instead of the "I'm famous for giving birth to a ridiculously large litter of children and ruining my marriage for televising every little step of our lives together" couple of the week?!
Jon is a tool. Kate is whiny and a little bit crazy. Next....
Teddy Kennedy got a blip on the front page. Kate and Jon? Multiple covers. Huh?!?
Sincerely,
A Disgruntled Reader

thank you!
Ok because I'm a serious slacker, I've yet to post about 2 awards one of my fave bloggers, A Sassy Engineer, bestowed upon me a while ago. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, you really should. Especially on Fridays when she gives tips on how to decorate and other stuff on a budget. Love it!
Since I'm so late on these, I figure they've already made the rounds so I'm passing them on to any of my readers who haven't received them. Thanks again SE!!!
My Dawgs didn't pull it out Saturday. Boo. I don't really want to talk about it. Hopefully we'll get it together quickly.
My parents are still in town and are staying until Friday. Why Friday? Well it's my birthday!! So we're celebrating all week. Well, I am. They're more than welcome to if they want to.
And in other news, The Marine is back from his training in Cali and is back on the East Coast! Yay! He gets two weeks off coming up soon before his deployment and will be able to come home for a while. Thank goodness. I feel like I haven't seen him in months.
Well I'm off to a quick eye exam this afternoon (fun) and then to a cookout tonite. Hope you all are enjoying your long weekend!!

happy birthday little man!!!
Happy Birthday Cash-bud!! Three years ago you came to our house an abused little pup and now you're the biggest dog at the house!! While you may be the dumbest (not being mean y'all, he's really not smart!!) dog around, we love you and promise to get you a helmet if you keep walking into walls. We even promise to let you keep your tail for yet another year, even though our coffee table has to remain empty for it to stay safe. Here's to the next year of you eating us out of house and home and keeping us on our toes by eating your Mama's $250 dollar sunglasses (not one, but two pairs). We really do love you Cash!!
Yea, so my dogs are my children and we celebrate their birthdays. And?! Oh my precious pups...
We have no plans for our Labor Day except that my parents are coming to town! Yay!! I so don't get to see my parents enough. The Marine should also be getting back to town sometime this weekend. He's been out in Cali doing his "desert training" prior to his next deployment. Hopefully we'll be getting to spend some time with him as he's getting a couple of weeks off before he deploys in October. I really don't want to think about that....
Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day!! What is everyone doing? Do you have big plans? I hope y'all enjoy your last bit of summer!
Oh and tomorrow my Dawgs kick off their season!! I can't wait!! Go Dawgs!!

so long summer...
It's September y'all.
There's a slight chill in the air in the morning.
It's still dark when I get up for work.
I think it's safe to say, summers just about gone.....
One of my favorite bloggers, Megan, tagged me to do a little end of summer survey and since my creative juices are still running on E, I thank her for thinking of me and giving me something to talk about!
And I was tagged by the oh-so-fabulous "Chin Chin" over at Mermother of Identical Mermaids, who also maintains a fabulous public blog, "No Nannie Mommie". She is so cute and exactly what I picture myself like in 10 years :)
Favorite Summer Cocktail: Honestly, not much of an alcohol snob. I like a cold beer on a hot day.
Favorite Summer Movie: I'm going with Shag. Nothing says summer like boardwalks and beaches.
Favorite Summer Song: Crazy Game of Poker by O.A.R. My summer anthem.
Favorite Summer Time Outfit: maxi dresses and flops or sundresses and flops.. love.
Favorite Summer Reading: fun girly books. the less thinking involved the better!
Favorite Summer Moment: going boating, skiing, eating crab on the dock... oh i do love summer...
I am a huge fan of Mother Nature's hottest gift... but it's time for the best time of the year... My Dawgs kick off Saturday!!!
