goodbyes blow, yes they do.

Some day I won't still be blogging about the move and all that it entailed. That day is not today. I want to get these pictures on here and this is on my mind so here goes.

Before we left Anderson, we made sure to spend as much time as we could doing some of our favorite things. We visited tons of parks, ate at our favorite restaurants, went on lots of runs, and made sure that BG had plenty of time to say good-bye to her little best bud.

I have to admit, moving from Savannah to Anderson was a lot easier than this move. There were no little two year old feelings involved. There were no Moms whose hearts were breaking over separating little best buddies. There were little to no tears. This move? not the same.

I put a lot of time and energy into moving so I wouldn't have to think about leaving. For BG's part. Because I knew this was going to be a change that would really rock her world and I was not looking forward to it at all.

The day we left town, Stacy and Zo came by to say goodbye. BG and I had picked out a little bracelet for her to give Zo so that the two of them would have a "bff" bracelet.

They of course absolutely loved it and thought they were just the coolest little things with their matching bracelets. Stace and I of course teared up at just how much joy the little things bring to these two.

Long before we were ready, Mr. P announced that the last of the house was on the U-Haul and it was time to pull out. Zo wanted nothing to do with saying goodbye and kept trying to run out the door hollering "Ella comes with me!". Only Ella wasn't coming with her and E couldn't quit crying over not being able to hug Zo bye.

BG and I walked them out to the car where I had to literally pull BG back out of the vehicle. They were both determined they were leaving together. And when I pulled her out, that's when they both lost it.

So BG and I sat in my front yard while Stace loaded up Zo who was hysterically yelling "ELLA!!! Come with me!!!" and my little one sobbed in my arms and did every monkey move she could to get down and get in the car. It was awful.

BG and I watched til they were gone and until the two of us couldn't even see through our tears anymore. We talked about how we were moving again, but BG couldn't doing anything but whimper "Zo, Zo no go" over and over again.

leave it to my child...
It was awful and hard and still hurts so much. We just miss our friends.

Surely it's time for a trip back right?!?

bathing with BG

Bath time is typically Mr. P's time with the little one. I use that time to clean up after dinner, check the computer, or more often than not, collapse in a chair and stare blankly into space.

The entire time they're in there, laughter, squeals, grunts, and "quacking" fill the house. It's one of my favorite times of the day. BG loves her Daddy and bath time is her one on one time to play and "chat" with him. I'm pretty sure it's one of his favorite times of the day as well.

That being said, it's also quite a workout. She's up, she's down, she's climbing over the duck's head. You literally cannot take your eyes off her. Or she'd probably climb out of the tub.

No joke.

She's pretty entertaining.

She's also gotten to big for the duck. Oh holding on to her in the big tub ought to be super fun!

Christmas 2010 - Christmas morning

Yes morning, as in, yes, there will be multiple Christmas Day recaps further into January.

I am that girl. And it's my child's first Christmas (apparently til next Christmas), so these posts will be photo heavy.

Like waterlogged. Just warning you..

After playing Santa and going to bed pretty late Christmas Eve, we still were up at the crack of dawn on Christmas with Baby Girl.

When I was growing up, I was the first one up every single Christmas Day. Heck, I still am at twenty-eight. I distinctly remember going downstairs and seeing the tree lit up and the presents. There would be wrapped presents and then a few unwrapped from "Santa". While everyone else still slept, I would peruse my stocking and all the unwrapped presents. I loved it. It was so quiet as I took it all in.

That's what I wanted for BG.

Since this was her first Christmas, we tried not to go overboard. That was a daily battle for this girl, but I think I did okay. Santa brought her her "big" present; a Pooh table, which she fell in love with immediately.

After her morning bottle, Nonny and Pops showed up and we began the festivities. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus first, which is another tradition from my childhood that I wanted to pass on, and then let her open some presents.

We have a small (ie: ridiculous) obsession over penguins around these parts. Not sure exactly where it came from (though I have my idea), but somehow my child is getting sucked into it. Seems only fitting that Uncle Marine would get the girl a penguin toy.

The rest of the morning was a blur of wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows. BG didn't quite "get it", but she liked ripping the paper off her presents. Of course after each gift was unwrapped she would get so busy playing with that toy that it took forever to get her to unwrap the next one.

Someone desperately needed a nap break, but was not having it.

Mr. P opening his "Dad" ornament from the little. She's such a sweet gift giver.

My favorite Christmas gift.. :)

Then BG let some other people unwrap some gifts while she let me wrestle rock her for a while to let her chill.

ha.

And then... we were done.

"So much Christmas!"

Of course I had to get a picture of my two best girls on Christmas morning. BG cracks me up.

She's all "get up out my picture bia".

After cleaning up some (and still no nap for the little one), we got dressed and headed out to the lake for dinner and more gifts.

To be continued...

a new pal.

Recently, BG has discovered the Sleep Sheep that hangs on her bed.

Every single night you hear her pulling on that velcro. Sometimes the sheep is still on the bed in the morning, sometimes he's on the floor, sometimes he falls in the bed.

It's a little game we like to play each morning; where's the sleep sheep?

Well this afternoon when I went to check on her at nap time, this is what I found

Melt my heart.

Apparently she has a new sleeping buddy.

the tree.

The day after Thanksgiving, we decided to take BG to pick out her first tree.

Of course we I decided that at about five in the afternoon, after sitting around all day, and had to have one at that very moment.

Surprisingly enough, I couldn't convince Mr. Perfect to go last minute Christmas tree farm hunting, so we hoofed it off to Lowe's and bought one.

Which Mr. promptly informed me I wasn't allowed to decorate until it had a few days to fall.

Harumph.

But I left it alone for three whole days.

Then it was on.

Putting the first ornament on.

A few days later, we decided to hoof it on out to a Christmas tree farm for the "experience".

Basically we drove around for an hour to find a tree farm, got out in the freezing cold, took some pictures, and came home.

But we had fun. And now BG has been to her first tree farm.

the farm

Absolutely breathtaking

So once we were sufficiently frozen to the bone, we packed up and headed home.

To our Lowe's tree which has been dropping needles for weeks.

Patience is a virtue one must have to get a good tree.

While I love a real tree, I think until the little one is a bit bigger we're going to have to do the fake thing. I'm over vacuuming 10 times a day to keep needles off the floor.
