one year check up

Confession?

I freaking love BG's doctor's visits.

No, I don't love the shots, or the blood draws or any of that jazz, but the rest of it? I love.

I love finding out how she's grown, how well she's doing developmentally, and.. I kind of like the affirmation that she's doing well. That I haven't messed up too bad..

Yet.

Sue me. I like reassurance.

Baby Girl at just over one, weighed in at 25.7 pounds (why do I not have Jillian Michaels' arms?!?!) and was 30.5 inches long. Head circumference was 18 inches. She's in the 90th percentile for everything.

Developmentally she's doing great. Our ped confirmed that she talks A LOT for her age. No surprise here if you've ever met me. Clearly I passed along something. After watching her walk all over that room holding my finger, he remarked that her not walking seemed to be more of a confidence issue than a physical issue. Which, I'm not hugely concerned about her not walking. I know that varies. And trust, she gets exactly where she wants on all fours. She's fine.

She does have a small umbilical hernia still present that we'll continue to watch. Hopefully it will just close up on it's own. It has gotten much smaller since birth, but it's still there. We're also being sent to a pediatric opthalmologist in town to have them take a look at her left eye. Her tear duct still seems to be giving her some issues and while our doctor says it usually takes care of itself in the first year, since her's hasn't, he'd feel better if we went and had another look at it. So we will.

All in all this visit went much better than her last one. The doctor spent a ton of time with us and answered all of our questions which I was pleased as punch about. Thank goodness because last time I was NOT a fan.

Then it was shot time. AKA hand the baby to Dad time.

After one shot, BG was furious. Red faced, hitting, kicking, all good times. Her Dad was literally holding her down for the final three.

Seriously, no idea where that feistiness comes from.

::hiding in corner::

After they were done, she wanted nothing more than her Mama. Or maybe I needed her. Whatever.

I know I shouldn't be laughing, but y'all, she is SO dramatic. She was just squealing here to keep it going. If we quit fawning over her, she started the squeals back up. Such a mess.

After a short little nap (is my kid the only kid that is not slowed down by shots?!), Mr. P and I decided to take her to the park for a while. Nothing I love better than seeing those two playing together.

This girl loves the park.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that BG liked the end of the day much more than the beginning. She'll learn to love the affirmation.

I'm with ya, girl. I LOVE David's doctors appointments! It is so fun to see how much they've grown. That cracks me up that she was being so dramatic. She has such a cute personality already!

I'm glad you enjoy the drs appts.. I dread them as the doc usually tells me Carsyn needs to gain weight. Luckily the last few visits have been much better. I just adore that dress on her... And drama queen, I can completely relate. Funny how they can be so manipulative at such a young age!

Cute shirt! Random question... do they not give her shots at the same time? We have two nurses that take both legs and inject at the same time.

YAY for a happy, healthy, and thriving girl!!! She is just too sweet!!! I feel her with the shots!! When I was younger the doctor and nurse would have to hold me down, ha!

Love that happy squishy baby who can almost walk. Love her. From afar. And not in a creepy stalker way. Well, maybe a creepy stalker kind of way as I read about her on the interwebs. She's just so darn cute I can't keep away.

LOVE the pic of the two of you at the end!

LOVE the doctor's appointments (shots excluded, like you said). I freely admit I need that validation from our doc that I haven't messed things up too badly.
