We were definitely not the only ones who felt that way as the line was out of control when we got there. Fortunately, it didn't seem quite as crowded one you got into the actual park.
BG did excellent until she learned that we would let her out of the stroller to look at animals. Once she was out, she didn't want to get back in. If the girl would just start walking, this would be so much easier!
Not sure how much an 11 month old can actually enjoy the zoo, but she lit up when she saw the giraffes. I think she thought it was so cool how close they got to us. It was pretty awesome..
After the giraffes, we quickly walked around and saw the rest of the zoo. It wasn't huge, but had a good variety of animals for us to take a look at. We skipped the Reptile House. I don't go in enclosed spaces with snakes. What if they get loose?!
The orangutan made me sad. He/she was just laying on the ground with his head in his hands. I made the comment to Mr. P about how bored he looked and he said "He probably is. There's only so many times you can swing on a rope."
True. And sad. We didn't stay there long.
On the way out, there was a small area with farm animals where you could pet some of the animals. BG and I stopped to pet a goat, but she wasn't really into it. She prefers to "poke" and since we haven't figured out "soft touch" yet, I didn't want her poking a goat and ticking him off. She was okay with just watching me pet him anyway.
We had a great time. The trip did make us decide that we won't be going to Disney or any other theme park until she can walk though. BG is so independent and wants to just go, but doesn't get that she can't yet.
After we left the zoo, we drove across town (and the wrong way up the interstate, ahem Mr. Perfect) to Buy Buy Baby where I finally got my stroller I've been lusting after for over a year. We so should have gotten this first. It's a dream to push! At least we have it for next time. Maybe she'll actually sit in this one..

looks like a fun, beautiful day!! and you got some cute pics! :)
i went to the zoo over the weekend as well, we could only see the indoor exhibits. it was not even 30 degrees outside...
Wait, wrong way up the interstate? Explain...
She's adorable, and looks like fun! I love those boots of yours.
I agree - you must share the interstate story! And I like the stroller - it looks really similar to the one that we purchased :-)
It looks like you guys had so much fun! BG is adorable as always and your outfit is awesome. It sounds like you had a great weekend :)
Awww, the zoo, so fun. I haven't been to the zoo in forever. I need to borrow BG so I have a reason to go.
We went to the zoo on Friday with Layla's kindergarten class. Let me just tell you, the animals were not bored. The lions were humping each other. (sorry I know this is a family blog) And I'm not really sure what the monkies were doing, but they were not bored. It was a bit hard to explain it all to a group of 5 year olds. Nature at it's finest! Looks like you guys had a great trip!
The zoo looks awesome! I love taking little day trips with my family of 3. Having kids gives you an excuse to do so many more fun things! haha. And I could not be more jealous of the warm weather!
thata girl! giraffes are my absolute favorite, she has good taste in animals! :-)
