when family comes to visit.

Over the past few weeks, we've been super lucky to get to spend some time with family that we don't get to see too often anymore. My Mom came down right before Father's Day and spent a few days hanging out with the three of us. BG loves her grandparents. We don't get to see them near enough, but we do get to Skype just about everyday, even if it is only for a few minutes. It's gotten to the point where BG points at the computer and says "Pop Pop!" (my Dad). She can't quite say "Nonny" yet, but she's working on it.

Mom was here for a few days and we mostly just laid low. BG and I took her to our favorite park and for walks, but mostly we just hung out at the house and played. I think BG liked going to the park with Nonny because she let her get MUCH closer to the scary birds than Mom does..

I honestly didn't take that many photos because we just hung out. It was nice not to have fifty million things on the agenda. BG just loved having someone new to show her toys too.

Then a couple of weeks ago, my Dad came through town on his way back from Savannah. BG had to walk around and survey how the man from the computer was suddenly in her living room, but she quickly decided she didn't care how it happened, she was just glad it did!

BG loved pulling Pops into her room and making her read tons of books. Of course, she gets bored after one line and then you have to keep starting over. Think it was making Pops crazy?!

Pops was stopping by my brother's house on the way back to Maryland, so BG and I decided to ride up there with him. I drove and let BG and Pops have extra play time in the back seat. Until I had to separate them so the little one could get a much needed nap. ;)

We met up with Uncle Marine and his new girlfriend for lunch and then the Mister met up with us afterward. Uncle Marine is heading back overseas here very soon so it was nice to get some time to hang out with him.

I love the way this kid looks at her Daddy. She adores him!

Uncle Marine bought a bike basically the second he stepped off the plane from A-stan last year. My Dad and I had never been on it so we both decided to take it for a little "spin" around the apartment complex. Well, my Dad took it for a spin around the complex. I held on for dear life while UM took it for a spin down a busy highway. I did NOT give him permission for that.

My Dad had to get on the road home after that and UM had a ton of stuff to get packed for his trip to California, so Mr. P and I took the little over to her Granny and Granddaddy's house for a while.

It took BG about ten seconds to find her Granny's doll collection. Fortunately
Granny had one that she could play with. They also pulled out Mr. P's rocking chair from when he was a baby. She loved that thing. Although we had to have a quick lesson in why climbing on rocking chairs is not a good idea.

Before we headed out of town, we met Uncle Marine for a quick dinner. When it came time to leave, BG did not want to leave her Uncle. It makes my heart smile to see them forming a tight bond. I only wish we could see him more often.

I really don't like living so far from family, but I have to say, it makes us pack so much fun into the time we do get to see them that I look forward to visits big time. Maybe someday we'll all live a bit closer, but until then, bring on more visits.

It looks like you guys enjoyed a lot of quality time with family. I completely agree, it's hard to be away from our families but it makes the times when we are together much more special!

BTB had a red rocking chair just like that. It was put in a barn at his grandparents farm.. So when we found out we were preggers my mom sanded it down and refinished it. I adore it..

So glad you got to enjoy your fam. When my parents lived in FL it was painful!
