halloween 2012

I swear, holidays with this little person just keep getting better and better. Halloween was awesome this year.

A while back, I asked BG what she wanted to be for Halloween. She promptly declared "a Princess!" and that was that. I knew that was a totally run of the mill, not very original costume idea, but what my girl wants, she gets (at least in these sorts of things) so I set about to make her an "original" Princess costume.

After over a week of crafting the fullest tulle tutu I could make, she changed her tune and decided she wanted to be a rabbit for Halloween.

Huh?

My genius self managed to convince her she should be a rabbit queen and she was all for that. She was so excited to be a "rabbit dress" and I was so excited my tutu wouldn't go to waste.

As luck would have it, when she put the tutu on, she deemed herself the "prettiest Princess Mama!!" and the rabbit idea died.

Win.

And she was definitely the prettiest, little Princess I've ever seen.

I'm pretty sure her Dad agrees as I'm about 98% sure he teared up a bit when she pranced into the bedroom to show him her outfit.

Unfortunately BG didn't take a nap yesterday afternoon so she was not feeling any sort of pictures. She can bet we'll be taking more later though.

After a stop at the in-laws' house (to a surprise that terrified BG), it was off to trick-or-treat. And trick-or-treating rocked y'all. She pranced up to doors as confident as could be and knocked on doors like a pro. She would only whisper "trick-or-treat", but I think her cuteness lets that one slide.

At one point as I watched her and Mr. P walk up to yet another door, I had another one of those "pinch me" moments. It hit me, again, that this is real. This life, in which I get to be this little girl's Mother, is real. I had a lump the size of Texas in my throat as I watched my sweet, sweet girl wait patiently for her candy; her tiny hand in her Daddy's bigger one. Man, I freaking love these people.

It got cold fast and so we wrapped it up and headed home. The night was perfect. Halloween 2012 was a big win.

And for grins and giggles, a comparison. She is growing up way too fast for this Mama heart to handle.
