I just got back from Charleston where we spent the weekend with my best friend and her kids; 5 year old Mason and my 2 year old goddaughter, Lola.
I might have changed my mind on having kids. Not even kidding.
We rode home from dinner with the kids in our car. Mase decided to play with the GPS and made it repeat "you have reached your destination" over and over and over. The entire 2o minute car ride. When he wasn't playing with that, he was turning the ac on full blast and blaring the radio.
The whole time Lola was in the backseat screaming his name.
My ears were bleeding.
The hubs and I dropped them off at their house and headed to WalMart on my insistence for a few minutes of peace. The minute they got out of the car Mr. Perfect turns to me and cracks up laughing.
"What's so funny?" I snapped.
"You. Your nerves are shot!"
"Are you telling me they weren't making you crazy?!"
"Nope. They're just kids hon".
Oh goodness..... I needed a xanax. I almost quit breathing for some silence.
The Mr. told me when we have kids, I can kiss my peace good bye.
Not true I say. When they're being loud the patient parent can step on in.

Hilarious! We have dinner with family friends who have 4 kids (ages 9, 7, 6, and 2) once a month. That is birth control! ... But their kids are pretty cute too!
Hahahah!! Babysitting is seriously the greatest birth control ever.
I agree... I totally fell in love with this 6 month old at a party I was at this afternoon... but at the end. I was so glad to be able to give him back!!

i have these moments too, don't worry!!
They overwhelmed you partly because you're not used to having them around like that, and possibly because they're not YOUR children, so you might not feel like you can discipline them as if you would your own child. I know that's the case with me. I don't feel I have the right to tell kids off, because I don't have kids myself, and for fear of what their parents will think.
But when you have kids of your own, you will watch them grow up a lot more closely, and you will start to know how to keep them occupied, because you know their characters more intricately.
Well, that's the hope at least :)
I agree... if definitely different when you are the parent and can step in and do something about how they are misbehaving. :) the story was funny though!
SO FUNNY! i think there are a lot of kids that i would have smacked around by now. my parents swear that they never let my brother and me act like that, so hopefully my boy will be a little angel!

Haha, this post is so true!! I have 2 delightful little cousins but boy am I pleased to give them back to their mum at the end of the day :)

Ha! Ha! You sound like me when I've hung out with my friends, and their kids aren't minding or drove me nuts at that time!
My husband and I will leave from having a horrible headache-from kids- and we will talk about how we would handle certain situations...sometimes we agree to not have kids..but then we think "we are in control" not the kids...
