Ramblin'...

I had my follow up appointment from surgery on Friday. I'll do a post on that later, but I did get cleared for activity again. Headed to the gym tonite, and my ab muscles are on fire!!! I was hurting. Two weeks off does not an easy workout make. At all. But I was desperately missing my gym time.

How come while I was gone from the gym they lost the ability to turn on the air? It was a sauna today.

You should head on over to Mrs. Newlywed's blog for a sweet little giveaway. Check it out. I know I'm a huge fan of anything personalized and paper!!

What happened on DWTS last nite?! I mean, I'm a huge Ty fan, but the boy has tapped out. He's reached his peak and should have gone home!!! I don't think Lil Kim was going to win anyway though, so maybe it doesn't matter...

American Idol- I am not a fan right now. Really blows for Danny and Kris that they pulled a rock theme this close to the end. They're just not rockers!! I totally felt like last nite Idol pulled out all the stops to promote Adam and Allison. Not a fan. And oh Danny... what did you do to my beloved Aerosmith last nite?!?

I made my first ever J.Crew purchase the other day and got the goods today. I know, I know... so behind the times. I got two cute summer dresses that I can't wait to wear. So far.. first experience deserves an A+.

I started this a while ago but haven't posted yet, but I'm opening the floor for any questions you have for this girl. My creative juices are spent right now so... It's down to this. So ask away! Seriously. Because if you don't, my feelings will be hurt... =)

Happy Birthday J!!!

I've mentioned it before, but I'll say it again.

I got pretty daggum lucky in the friend department. My friends are ah-ma-zing. Seriously.

And my best friend J? Pretty much my soul sista..

J moved to our little town in middle school from up North. It was 7th grade. Everyone's trying to figure out who they are. And J was this little skater chick weird girl. I was Miss Preppy. We did not mesh.

The next year we were offered the opportunity as 8th graders to play on the JV soccer team at the high school. She accepted. I chose cheer-leading. I figured play time was minimal (I was right), so I stuck with cheering for the school and playing city league soccer.

I think she thought I was snobby for that.. Silly girl.

When we reached our freshman year of high school, we were the only 9th graders that made the Varsity team. We were thrilled. We were so excited and pretty much thought we were the coolest things ever. J's family moved after our first game. And I sure did miss that girl.

Fortunately she moved back the next year. Before the soccer season started. We haven't been separated since.

We've seen each other through a lot. We've fought, we've cried, I've gotten married, she's had children. It's been a heckuva ride. The best part; we grew up together. She's no longer a skater girl. I'm no longer that preppy, peppy girl. We've grown into the freespirited, sometimes hippy, laid back women that I am so proud of.

J's the best mama I've seen. She has so much patience and energy with her two kiddos that I'm usually in awe. She's a single mom who always puts her kids first. And they are turning into amazing people. I'm pretty much a huge fan of hers.

So Happy Birthday to my BFF!! I hate that I can't see ya on your lovely 26th but we'll do it up right next time we're in the same town!!

I QUIT!!

I'm serious this time.

I freakin' quit cooking. I hate it. And it's ridiculously expensive when I cook.

Case in point. I made dinner last nite since I managed to beat the hubs home. I put some chicken on to cook and got the noodles boiling. Then steamed some brocoli.

I burned the crap out of the chicken. Who knew you shouldn't use better with high heat?! I also burned the crap out of myself with the popping grease. Seriously, marks on my arm. The pasta cooked too long and went limp. Then while pouring out the excess water, I managed to spill it on the floor. And on my bare foot. The brocoli wouldn't steam. Apparently it wasn't right for steaming because of the cut of it. What? There's more than one cut?

Needless to say we gave the dogs the chicken and threw the rest out. Mr. Perfect had to run out and get us some food. It's more expensive for me to cook than for us to just eat out!!! I've had it!!!

I talked to Mr. Perfect right before I left work tonite and asked him if he wanted me to make dinner.

He laughed. Then told me we couldn't afford for me to keep cooking.

I love you too honey.

And I quit!

Show Me Where You Live Friday...

One of my FAVE bloggers, Kelly, is doing a new thing, Show Us Where You Live Friday and I'm all for jumping on a bandwagon! Today's room is the kitchen. Blah. I hate the kitchen. It's the one area in our house we haven't "fixed" up yet and it's the one room in the house I spend little to no time in. Unless I'm bothering helping the husband while he cooks. =)

Heading into the kitchen from the front hallway

Looking into the kitchen from the hallway

The stove- the only appliance we've replaced so far. Because it made us.

I love the backsplash.. We actually want to put slate tiles up eventually, but Mr. P did this all by himself and I really like it. But out with the old...

Also, notice that little black spot on the counter? Those used to be sunglasses. Expensive sunglasses. Apparently our pup prefers Costas to Target sunglasses. So does your Mom son, so does your Mom...

The eat-in area. That we never eat at. We sit on the couch in front of the TV. 'Cause we're classy like that. I need new place settings. I was over the old ones and can't just put "any" up there. They have to be perfect. I don't think they've been made yet.

Also that little cabinet on the right has got to go. Right now it holds wedding memorabilia and used to be in our room til we redid it. Now I'm working on another project for the stuff in it and that cabinet will be peacing out. Sorry Mom.

The green bag under it? Holds trees. Yea. I know. But the Mr. threatened my life if I touched it. Apparently they're waiting to be planted.....

My Menu board which I lurve.. And my ducks. I have a strange love for these guys even though I'm terrified of all birds. I would be terribly upset if they disappeared.

The baker's rack. I have a collection (while small) of cookbooks. Ask me how many I've opened. Or even know where they came from. We have more than a small collection of games. The hubs and I love some games. There's Trooper too. Swimming his way over to wish you all hello. I think this might be his first intro on the blog.. Poor fish.

It's really bothering me that the games aren't all straight on the shelf. I must go fix that.

A view of the whole (small) kitchen.

Another view.

Wow, embarrassing. Is my calendar still seriously on November?!?

And the pantry... with the Goldfish. Is there a better snack?!

Our house is pretty old so our kitchen doesn't really go with today's needs. We try to keep it as clutterfree as possible, only keeping out the coffeemaker. It would be ridiculous to pull that out everyday! Apparently it's a real bummer to try and cook in such a small kitchen. Mr. Perfect has said in his next house we will have a much bigger one!!

Let me know if you did this so I can come check out your kitchen!

Fetch?

I LOVE coming home in the afternoons.

Usually the Mr. is already at home cooking up something delicious and the "kids" are sitting at the back gate waiting on Mom to pull up. We play this little game where I "pretend" to ignore them and walk in the door and then I run back to the gate really quick. Lacy's caught on. She doesn't take off to the back door like her brothers, so I get a minute just me and my girl before the boys figure it out and come tearing back up to the gate and the madness breaks out.

That is not the case on Fridays.

On Fridays I get home first. The pups stay outside if it's nice in a nice, fenced in area of their own in the yard. Don't you feel sorry for them, it's shaded and they did it to themselves after a week straight of digging out. This girls heart can't take it. They're so happy to see you when you let them out but they are a bundle of energy. You have to step back from the gate quickly in order to stay standing up. Trust me. I know this.

I try to play outside with them for a bit. Usually I end up covered in dirt and puppy kisses, but it's so worth it. Duke (the hound) likes to play fetch. A lot. The other two? Not so much. Cash (the black one) will if it's just him. Lace? Nuh uh. Not her cup of tea. But she does like torturing Duke while he tries to play.. I caught this little game of Fetch on camera not too long ago...

See how hard just one throw is on him?!? She's ridiculous.
