the croods: a giveaway

BG is finally starting to get to the age where occasionally sit still for half a second and watch a movie. She won't do it for long, but she's getting better. So I love when I see new movies coming out that I think she'll be interested in.

This spring, The Croods will be one of those movies on our must watch list.

The Croods is a 3D adventure that follows the first modern family as they are forced to leave the security of their cave home and venture out into the world. The following family "road trip" is full of adventure and hiccups along the way.

The Croods boasts an all-star cast including two of my favorites, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone. The fact that Nicolas Cage voices the Dad may even get my husband to tag along with us to see this one.

In anticipation of the movies release, I've teamed with Dreamworks for a little giveaway! Enter below to receive your copy of the movie poster as well as a plush Belt toy (Belt is the loyal sloth who accompanies Guy, the nomadic caveboy played by Ryan Reynolds). Fun right?! BG received this and immediately fell in love with Belt. We'll probably see the movie just for him alone!

*The giveaway is open only to US residents. I received a copy of the movie poster and a stuffed Belt toy for this review. All else is my own opinion and thoughts.*

Santa Paws2: The Santa Pups Giveaway!

It's no secret that my kid is an animal lover. Her favorite movies always include animals which she wants to watch over and over and over and...

You get the point.

So when I was given the chance to review Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups, I was all over it. Truth be told, I was going to watch it with Mr. P and save it for BG for Christmas, but when it got here, she saw the cover and that's all she wrote. "Doggy movie!!" was squealed with excitement and I barely wrestled it out of her hands before she disappeared with it. So we watched it.

The gist of the movie is four Santa pups are born and quickly cause all kinds of trouble in the Christmas Village. They want to prove they're responsible so they get the idea to start granting Christmas wishes. Unfortunately that backfires and Mrs. Claus and the pups have to work quickly to save Christmas. I'll let you watch and see if they do. ;)

It's a very cute movie and BG loved the puppies. In fact I'm pretty sure she has now decided that Santa will be bringing her one of them for Christmas. Whoops.

The best part is, you can win one of the Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups Combo Pack DVD/Blue Ray for your own family! Retail value of $39.99 but one of you will get it for free!

Winner will be announced early tomorrow morning so get those entries in! Good luck!! Winner will have 24 hours to get me their information. Unfortunately if I don't hear from you by then, we'll have to announce another winner so we can get the prize pack out. Thank you!

my kind of giveaway!

brave_cover_art
When I was given the chance to review a copy of the movie Brave, I jumped at the chance. I didn't know anything about the movie, except that the character had red hair and could shoot a bow and arrow, but I was determined to lock down a copy for BG for Christmas to add to her Disney collection so this came at the perfect time.

BG isn't quite to the point where she will sit and watch a movie, so during nap time on Sunday, Mr. P and I popped in the movie to check it out.

Not even two minutes into the movie we were both marveling at the graphics. They are insane y'all. And so realistic.

Going into the movie, I kind of thought it would be a "war" type movie or some other big "Princess saves her country" kind of conflict so I was completely surprised by the plot line. Surprised in a great way.

I loved this movie. Both Mr. P and I laughed out loud multiple times and neither one of us moved an inch while it was on. While I love the typical Disney love story plot line, this one was different and I loved it. It's got a very family dynamic and most of the battles in this movie are internal battles as opposed to your typical external battles.

And in typical post-BG behavior, I totally cried at the end. Seriously, that kid ruined me. But just you wait til you see this movie.

And see it you can, because I have a copy of the Brave Ultimate Collector's Edition 5-Disc Set which includes a Blu-ray 3D disc, 2 Blu-ray discs with shorts and special features, a DVD and a digital copy to give away here on the blog.

Be sure and enter below for your chance to win! Contest will end and winner will be announced on Saturday, November 10th.

$1,000 Spafinder Gift Certificate... for you?!?

As summer wraps up, I get a little nostalgic thinking back over all the fun we just had and all the great things we got to do. Summer is good to me. It's not so good to my hair.

Between the heat, the chlorine, and how plain hot it is here, summer does a number on my hair. Not to mention the heat damage I do to it trying to counteract all those factors. By this time of the year, my hair is a hot, frizzy mess. It very closely resembles straight up straw, a sure sign that it is damaged.

Fortunately the guys over at Dove have quite a few solutions for this problem. Their patented technology works to repair and nourish damaged hair. I was lucky enough to try out the Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner. I cannot sing it's praises enough. After one use, I could tell a difference in my hair. It was smoother and much more manageable. And not at all frizzy.

Now? My hair is smooth and much less frizzy. And way more pleasant to touch. Plus, it didn't have that left over greasy feel that so many conditioners leave behind. So long straw hair! I will not miss you.

Be sure to visit Dove.com and check out the rest of their products and also (here is the part for you!) be sure and enter below for the chance to win $1000 in a SpaFinder gift certificate!!

Enter to win a $1,000 Spafinder gift certificate! How would you pamper yourself with a thousand dollars to spend at Spafinder?

Oreck Grab-It and Steam-It Giveaway

Y'all. I am ridiculously excited about this giveaway. Why? Because one of you is going to win this amazing Oreck Grab-It and Steam-It Steam Mop!

A few weeks ago, I was given the chance to try out the Oreck Grab-It and Steam-It. I jumped at the chance.

See, I have a secret. It has been days, okay, months since I've mopped my floors. That is not okay. Between three pets, a toddler, and a husband, I call it a win when I get my floors swept. True story. Somehow by the time I go back to mop, the floors need to be swept again and well, you get it.

So when the Grab-It and Steam-It showed up, I ripped that thing open and put it to work.

IMG_9217

Y'all, it's awesome. It completely eliminates a step by having a turbo broom and a steam mop in one. Not only that, but the swivel head makes it easy to get in and out of tough places and it's got this ridiculously amazing long cord. My husband actually was most thrilled about no longer having to play the "hunt for an outlet" game we played with our last vacuum.

Our house gives cleaning a run for it's money. We have a lot of hard surfaces and a lot of pet hair hanging out on said surface. I was really expecting to see lots of wet dog hair left behind by the Grab-It and Steam-It but that didn't happen. As long as we empty out the handy little dirt collector pretty often, we have no issue. None. I'm okay with that.

IMG_9225

Even the hubs had to give it an "overall a great little machine" after trying it out. Not too shabby.

Just because it's kind of hard to explain just how it works, I've included a video for you to check out.

Want to know how to win a Grab-It and Steam-It of your own??

the most wonderful time of the year.

I pretty much cannot believe that it is time for Christmas cards again. Didn't we just do this?!?

But it is. Thank goodness for Shutterfly.

I've used Shutterfly for my cards for years. For Christmas, Halloween, BG's birth announcement; they're my old standby because I heart them.

I pretty much loved our card last year. How could I not with such an adorable subject?!

I just started looking at all the designs they have for this year and holy wow. Which one will I ever pick?!

While I'm over there, I really should work on BG's first year photo book. And you know, start her second year. Those photo books are amazing. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Bring it back home girl..

The good news? I have three codes for 25 FREE cards for three lucky readers. What do you need to do?

Simple, no hoops. Leave me a comment with what you are most looking forward to for the holiday season and that's it. I'll pick the winners on Tuesday the 1st.

we have a winner!

::drum roll please:: The winner of the My Memories Giveaway is...

#2.. JILL!

And I tried forever to figure out how to post the picture of the thing on Random.org but couldn't do it so you'll just have to trust me.

So Jill (who by the way just had a new baby! eep!!), when you get a second, email me and I'll get you your code!

do what? a giveaway?!

Yep. It's happening. It's my first giveaway!

When the lovely people at My Memories contacted me about doing a giveaway, I wasn't so sure at first (all honesty right?!). But then I took a look around and loved what I saw.

It's no secret that I've been working my booty off on some digital scrapbooks for BG's first year. This little ditty came around just in time because I was hard at work on her second year book (ignore the fact I haven't finished the first year yet).

With all the digital scrapbooking kits they have, it's easy to find something that will work with what you're wanting to create.

Or, you can easily go your own route and use the pages and embellishments they already have to create something all on your own.

Obviously I've just started. Way to go slacker Mom considering she's 18 months old!

So here's what's up for grabs; you get your own copy of the digital program!

There's a couple of ways to enter but I'll try to keep it simple;

Mandatory entries:
-Be a follower of this blog and go check out the My Memories and check out their digital kits. Then come back here and let me know which one is your favorite.

For extra entries (and leave a comment for each one):
-Follow My Memories on Twitter
-Like My Memories on Facebook
..and third
-in the spirit of fun giveaways, go check out AP's giveaway today and enter.

It's good times on this Monday y'all.

Get to entering y'all! I'll pick a winner this Friday evening.

I did receive a free copy of this software in return for me to review and host this giveaway. However, the legit product plug is all my opinion and such.

odds and ends.

Getting up in the morning to do the Shred lasted one day. One measly, freakin' day. I chose a half hour more of sleep over getting up to hang out with Jillian.

I'd be hard pressed to find someone that blames me for that.

I put in another 2 miles this afternoon. Other than having to basically carry my dog the last 1/4 mile, it was pretty uneventful. I had to call the hubs after the run and make sure he'd have water for her as soon as we walked in the door. He got her water; didn't think to have any waiting for me!

Priorities....

In other news, thank you so much to Sassy Engineer and Enginerd for bestowing this lovely award on me!

I'm supposed to pass this on to 5 bloggers that I know I could be friends with in real life. Choosing 5 sucks because I feel like I know all of y'all but.. rules are rules. =)

1. Megan at In This Wonderful Life. I LOVE her! She's quickly become a real friend through blogging and email and she so needs to come visit the South and come see me (and bring me some of her dresses because the girl's got STYLE!). Plus she's been a huge support to me through all this crazy female stuff and that's been amazing.. Here's hoping to August bellies girlie!

2. JLC at French Kiss. She is the nicest person I think I've ever "met". She's always got something to say and it usually cracks me up and makes my day! I love her comments! Now I just need to get up to NYC and see her.. =)

3. Lindsey over at Learning to Be A Wife. Because she is the sweetest blogger out there and how could you not want to be her friend?! She's always quick to comment and has the sweetest things to say!

4. Megan over at Tales of the Trees. Hands down hilarious. And I do like a funny gal! I just know we'd laugh and carry on for days together!! I think I should head to the Midwest since 2 of my favorite Megan's are out there!! Plus she has fabulous hair. Who doesn't want friends with fabulous hair?!?

and...

5. Erin at Blue-Eyed Bride. Once again, so freakin' nice and so funny. I'm still disappointed I missed her when she was in town!! boo. I love her take on just about everything; from babies to music, she's pretty much always right on! We could totally hang out and drink our sweet tea vodka's and be the sweet, little southern gals we are! =)

That was hard. I hate being selective. I love all you ladies!!

And since I love you.. I'm going to let you in on some rockin' little secrets. Muffy is giving away a sweet pair of Fitz and Fannie earrings on her page and Legallyblondemel is giving away a copy of the book "Pretty in Plaid" so check both those out. And don't say I never hooked you up with anything!

Pretty crazy weekend in store. My best friend from college is actually getting ready to move this way, so she's coming into town this weekend to look at apartments and will be staying with us. It's also my friend Turstal's birthday so we'll be having a grand 'ol girls nite for that tomorrow nite. Then Saturday the Mr. and I are headed to Charleston for my goddaughter's 2nd birthday. So much to do, but I lurve it. Hope you guys all have a great weekend!
