maryland recap: part 3

On Friday we decided to drive right down the road to Solomon's Island and check out the Calvert Marine Museum. The weather was ridiculous. It was pouring rain when we got there and finally chilled out after a bit but the wind was ridiculous.

The museum was pretty awesome. We stopped first of all to check out the stingrays. You couldn't touch them (what the heck? you can at Sea World), but BG was pretty entertained watching them swim around. Have I mentioned before how cool it is to watch your child see all of this for the first time??

We headed into a kid's Discovery Room and I let BG get down to explore (aka walk around holding my hands). She loved it.

She got to dig for fossils and even keep one,



she got to pet a turtle, which she promptly poked in the eye (nice),




and do a few puzzles upstairs in the big kid room.



Once the rain chilled out we headed outside to check things out out there. We took BG to see the otters and she LOVED them.





She laughed , she squealed, she jumped around. It was hilarious. She is such a trip!

Then we headed to check out the lighthouse.


But first we stopped to check out BG's favorites. I hope the fascination with ducks is short lived...


In front of the lighthouse. We were able to go up in it. Not an easy task climbing a ladder and steep lighthouse stairs with a squirmy ten month old but I did it. Go me.

My best girl and I at the very top of the lighthouse. I didn't want to look down and she was doing everything in her power to look all around. She's a stubborn little thing.



After the tour we headed back inside to look around a little bit more.

We headed out for dinner after wards and then back home. Uncle Marine and I decided to head into D.C for the night, so my parents kept BG. Apparently they spent a while entertaining her by sticking things under the basement door.

I didn't take a single picture of our night out, but we hit up a few local spots that Pam recommended. Thanks for that by the way!

The next day we headed into Annapolis for lunch (delicious) and then went to check out the Naval Academy. My parents and I had been there before but Uncle Marine never had so we took him to see the sights. Unfortunately it was ridiculous cold and most of the buildings were closed so we didn't get to see much. Guess we'll have to go back next time.

We spent the rest of Saturday night hanging out at the house and watching movies. I think we should do more of that next trip. I love that quiet time where I'm not running around like a crazy person.

And I can wear yoga pants.


We left bright and early Sunday morning and headed home. The ten hour drive felt a million hours long and I think all three of us were going a bit stir crazy. But we made it.

My view for 10 + hours. My brother really needs to clean his windshield.

We had a blast. I'm actually excited to head back up there again in the spring and take BG to see some stuff without the fear of frostbite.

We're home.

I'm tired.

BG managed to somehow pick up a cold. Somewhere between Walterboro and here. Fantastic.

I've filled the gas tank in the truck 9 times in 5 days.

We've been to Annapolis, Virginia, Greenville, Walterboro, and so many stops on the way in 5 days.

I've peed holding a 20 pound baby too many times to count.

TMI?

Don't care.

I am exhausted.

I just opened my Reader and almost cried. I will catch up.

I already miss my hubs.

But...

I think we found a house in SC. And I saw an incredible rainbow on the way home. And my child seems to know she is home and went straight to bed with no fighting.

My good sleeper may have returned!

All is well...

Holy blog silence Batman.

BG and I are currently hanging out at my parents in Maryland. Mr. P is in South Carolina. Le dogs are at the kennel.

BG has been such a doll up here. Even yesterday when she missed a feeding because Mom was doing some hardcore shopping.

Oops.

But in my defense, she never even acted hungry!

Then she threw up in Nordstrom.

Again, oops.

We drove over the Bay Bridge. BG slept through that terrifying experience. I kept breathing. But barely.

So we're still around. We're headed home tomorrow after a quick little stop to meet up with some blog friends. :)

I'm not looking forward to that drive again. Ten hour drives just me and the babe are not easy.

I'm rambling.

Just wanted to check in. I'm fixing to take BG out to see the Chesapeake.

We wish Daddy was here...

We're Back!

We're in the house with the windows open.

We must be back in the South!

My mom called us and let us know that the sun started shining in Maryland today. Haha Mother Nature, haha. That's fine that you let it rain the whole time we were there!

So we made it back home. I am exhausted. And Mr. Perfect drove the whole way home so imagine how he feels! We didn't get back in time to pick up the kids from the kennel. Boo.. =(

It's so quiet in our house right now. What do people that don't have pets do to entertain themselves?!?

Great Weekend

Well this Southern girl and her Mr. Perfect are headed back to the South tomorrow. We had such a great weekend! Yes, its ridiculous cold up here in Maryland, but I love it up here! This visit we tried to see some things we don't usually see. Obviously we always tour around D.C., but we kind of wanted to switch it up this visit. So we headed up to Baltimore on Saturday and Sunday, and today we ventured out to Annapolis.

I have a huge crush on Annapolis.

Baltimore was nice, don't get me wrong. It hit my love for big cities with tons of stuff to do perfectly. It was kind of quiet because of the rain (that was here the whole daggum weekend!), but it was nice. Love the harbor.

But Annapolis.. oh be still my heart! I love big cities. I love the energy, the people watching, the shopping, the culture. But at the same time, there is nothing quite like a quaint city. And Annapolis fit the bill. It was kind of like a Northern Charleston. Although nothing will ever be Charleston because Charleston can't be touched!! But same feel. Loved it.

We're headed back down to the SAV tomorrow morning. Wish us luck for this 10 hour drive we have ahead of us tomorrow. Like I've said before, I have the attention span of a flea so sitting in the car that long about kills me!! Once we get home I'll put up some pics. I'm using mi padre's comp right now (which I've kidnapped while I've been here to keep up with all you fine ladies!!). Hope you all have a safe and happy Saint Patricks Day tomorrow! I'm kind of sad I won't be in my lovely Irish hometown to celebrate tomorrow. It might be a good thing though, because the Irish in this girl tends to get her in trouble... =)

P.S- I just voted 3 times by text message and 11 times on the computer for Dancing with the Stars. The reality addiction is getting out of control.

Cracked out on Full Throttle....

After 11 hours, a stop for dinner with Mr. Perfect's family, 5 bathroom stops, 4 cups of coffee, and 3 Full Throttles (hence the bathroom stops), we made it to the parents abode in Maryland.

I did some serious concert perfoming of some Ashlee Simpson last nite. A sold out show I'm sure.

I had to keep myself awake since Mr. Perfect slept the whole way!! Boo. He said it was my fault since I kept him up the nite before talking in my sleep. Touche touche.

My throat hurts this morning and I still feel like my heart is about to beat out of chest. I think I'm cracked out on energy drinks.

We're off to tour the Baltimore area today. Wish us luck since it's about 30 degrees colder here than back home, and this girl didn't pack accordingly. =( 'Course not.
