My Facebook timeline is blowing up over this Chick-fil-a thing. Amazingly, my Reader is much more tame which is nice, but at the same time, I feel like maybe we're all playing it a bit safe and avoiding this little topic.
Which, is usually my preferred method but... not this time.
I'm a bit baffled as to why this statement from the owner of Chick-fil-a is shocking? We are surprised that a company that is strongly ran with a Biblical guideline is standing up for what they see as the biblical definition of marriage? We're surprised that a Christian ran company that everybody knows is Christian ran (ya'll they're closed on Sunday), gives money to Fellowship of Christian Athletes and The National Christian Foundation?
Really?
The owners of Chick-fil-a have never shied away from their faith. They run the company in a way that aligns with their faith and they do it loudly and proudly. They always have. It's surprising now?
What baffles me more than that, is that most of the people up in arms over this are the ones screaming that we should be more tolerant and that everyone has rights and blah blah blah, but the minute that a Christian states their views? well, heck, we don't need to be tolerant of them. They don't have the right to say that.
Double standard much?
Both sides are fighting a losing battle. True story. You aren't going to argue long enough or bully someone long enough to get them to believe what you believe. That's the problem folks. If you want to preach tolerance, then you also have to act out tolerance. Simple.
I have very strong Christian beliefs. Ask me about them, I'll tell you about them. As a Christian, it is my job to live by those beliefs. Because I follow Jesus, I am called to live by the Bible.
What I'm not called to do is be mean. To ostracize groups of people. To hang in my comfort zone and not invite people of every walk of life to church with me. Jesus wasn't afraid to get His hands dirty; why should I be?
Perhaps this business owner is doing what he feels he needs to to "let his light shine" which as Christians, we are called to do. And y'all, he lives in America where he has the right to live and breathe as he wants and can say what he wants. Where you have the right to do the same thing.
I'm surprised at the outrage this has caused. I surround myself with people of all different types; some Christians, some atheists, some straight, some gay, some Conservative and some wildly liberal. They don't all agree with me on most things, but we are still able to get along. Because we listen to one another. Because we love one another.
I'm a Christian. But you won't see me deleting my Facebook because Mark Zuckerberg is an atheist. I don't care what Mark Zuckerberg does. I just like Facebook (most of the times).
Now granted, I would love a chance to share my faith with him but that's not what this is about.
We're all raised differently. We all believe differently. We're different from one another. And that's awesome, because if we were all the same, well, that would suck. But we have to learn to be tolerant of each other's views.
Even if they're different than ours. You don't have to like what everyone has to say, but you do have to tolerate their right to say it.
And if you don't want to eat their chicken because of their views, well don't. That's also your right. But I'll be having a Spicy Chicken Sandwich for dinner now. All this talk may make me need waffle fries too.

women.
Here's what I don't understand. Women have had a hard road to get where we are today. Ladies before us busted their a*$es to work and fight for the things we get to enjoy today. We are a powerful group. We can still rock a board meeting, give birth, run a marathon, and run our daily errands wearing 5 inch heels and a smile. Well... most of the time. We can vote, we can hold incredible jobs, we can voice our opinions and have it heard and taken seriously. Yet, we still have one major thing that is always trying to hold us back.
Other women.
Seriously. What is the deal? I've never understood the cattiness of women. All my life I've been closer with guys. Because you know where you stand with them. I like the whole "what you see is what you get" thing. They're honest.
A woman?
Will stab you in the back quicker than you can say "stiletto". And I do not get it.
If you don't like something that someone says, then don't agree with them. Simple. You don't have to not only disagree, but take their words and belittle them to the point that they feel 2 inches tall. I mean, come on. Some women are prettier, some are smarter, some make prettier babies (hey, I'm honest), but every single person out there is struggling with something. Why do we as a group have to make it harder for us to get through the day?
That's all I've got to say about that. I just don't get it. And I think there's been way too much of it all around lately. Chill out ladies, and put those claws away. It's actually ok to be nice and supportive. Shocker huh?!

a friday rant.
Somebody once told me "there's nothing common about common sense". No, he didn't make it up but I have no idea who said it first, so this guy gets credit in my book.
Well, I'm changing it up a bit. I personally think there's nothing common about common courtesy.
I'm not kidding people. I live in the South which is supposed to be friendly by freakin' nature. If this is friendly, well I don't want to see rude and mean.
When I stop in my car to let you walk in front to get in a store, please don't waddle the entire way, playing in your purse, on your phone, whatever. Move your A**! I've got places to go to.
When you are in the left lane and there is a line of cars backed up behind you because you've decided to go the under the speed limit (or the speed limit or just 5 over), then move. Maybe I want a speeding ticket. At least move over and give me the chance to go fast enough to tempt the fates.
Please do not get in the speedy checkout line with 2 carts of crap, and then give me dirty looks when I stand there huffing and puffing holding my 3 items.
Do not let your kids ride their bikes through my front yard. This seriously irks me to no end. I don't walk through your yard, although I'm debating it, in stilettos, so get your munchkins off my lawn. Now.
It's a wonder I have good blood pressure. People make me crazy. Is it just me or is it getting worse by the day? I feel like people in general just feel like they're entitled to act like this. It's not just my sweet, southern hometown is it?!
Man... I miss Mayberry.

your little tennis wiiman can shove it. =)

We've been looking at this little beauty for a while. Friday nite after the movie we tried to go see was sold out (boo), we headed on over to Best Buy and bought it. Because we needed it.
How come no body that knows me tried to talk me out of this?!?
I am so competitive. To a fault. And those little Wii men are kicking my arse at some tennis. So is Mr. Perfect.
I now completely understand the remote through the tv thing you hear about so often. They only try to tell you it's an accident....
I will not let them defeat me. I will be practicing when Mr. Perfect is at work.
