did i get too cocky?

Just when I thought I had this motherhood thing down, fate (or Satan or whatever) decides to step in and go oh I've got this and knock me right off my high horse.

I've been working out, cooking dinner, cleaning house. BG's been napping and we had us a good little schedule going.

Then there's today.

The house is a disaster. I do not know how since I literally cleaned all day Tuesday (what day is it?!?) but it is. There is dog hair, clothes, dishes, and toys everywhere. I can't deal.

I finally got my living room cleaned up during BG's twenty minute nap time (yes, twenty minutes even after getting up before six since she wet the bed, and we had to change the sheets at o' dark thirty), when my dog threw up.

Twice.

As I cleaned the second pile up, BG threw Sophie in the mess and then lost it when I had to take her away to clean her.

Is this day serious???

We got to the grocery store and made it out alive only to have my bag break when I got to the car, almost shattering my jar of salsa. Then I dropped my keys trying to open the door and as I bent down to pick them up, BG picked that moment to throw herself backwards causing her to hit me in the teeth and ending with both of us in tears.

Currently, she is in her crib "napping". Meaning, she's been hollering, laughing, and crying for about two hours. I'm fixing to give up and just go get her.

I still need to fix dinner, but am seriously afraid something might blow up as it just seems like it might be that kind of day.

Ay yi yi.

It's seriously almost comical. And it's almost five which is awesome, because I can tag out to Mr. Perfect. Stick a fork in me. I am done son.

escape artist.

Christmas post coming as soon as I muddle through the 8 billion pictures I've taken over the past few days.

Geez. You would've thought it was someone's first Christmas or something.

But for now, a funny video.

Because BG is nothing if not funny.

And as if keeping her still isn't a challenge enough?

Now she escapes from her bouncy chair.

Which she is too big for (this I know) and should be strapped into (which I also know, but she'll flip it strapped in too and that's not pretty).

She certainly keeps me on my toes.

back on the fit train. ugh.

So pregnancy does some not so fun things to your body. And it is not okay.

I managed to gain 39 pounds while pregnant. That is a big old belly.

The day I went in to be induced

Yowzers.

I thought I made it through the whole ordeal pretty much stretch mark free until the last week when one little tiny one showed up on my right side.

Ha.

While I was in the hospital I managed to lose 21 pounds. Best. Diet. Ever. Just give birth to a healthy baby girl and then lose a TON of fluid and wa-la. However, I had acquired this scary flap of gushiness. I really can't think of a better way to describe it. It's like a scary skin flap. Ever see Click? Remember when Adam Sandler flaps his skin tongue? Yea. It's like that.

Well not that bad. But I was pretty horrified.

However, not even 1 week after I got home, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Thirty-nine pounds gone. Thank you breast feeding.

But I am still left with a pooch and oh yea, stretch marks. All on my left side where she hung out most of the time and all way down low. Guess the bottom of my belly stretched more than I thought.

Boo.

I may be back to pre-preg weight but my clothes still don't fit right and I still don't feel right. I'm way flabbier and I swear my hips are in a new position. I may not be able to fix the hips but my skin flap is outta here.

I took Baby Girl running the other day and oh. my. gosh. Almost died.

I am so out of shape. And the whole time I was very aware of my hip joints and my suture area. And I also think I could feel my uterus bouncing around in there.

That last part probably didn't really happen but I swear something was going on in there.

This may be a long road.

*After our first run

When I got home I did a few weights and some crunches. Can someone please tell me where I put my abs?! I only knocked out a few sets and thought I saw the Light calling me home so I quit.

I am so out of shape.

The next day I felt like I got hit by a car. We rested that day.

I also signed up to play in my high school's alumni soccer game this Saturday.

Clearly I'm insane. I'm fixing to take my 6 weeks postpartum, 27 year old body out there and subject myself to 90 minutes of running with 17 year olds.

I wonder if I can call in sick to that....

Anyway. Here I am at 5 weeks post delivery.

Definite poochage going on.

I'm going to have to work this off because as I've stated before, I am not a dieter. A dieter wouldn't have consumed the dozen cookies I did today. At least I don't think there's a diet that allows that. If there is, then maybe I am a dieter.

Back on track. So here goes. I'm back on the fit train. I have to work in workout time and make sure I still have enough time for my girl. No going to the gym for hours at a time anymore. When I come home at work, I want it to be about her. So it looks like I'll be running with her. Which is fine. I just have to get re-motivated.

And get my hips to stop hurting. This should be as fun as a barrel o' monkeys. Here goes...

blech.

Sorry for my lack of checking in, but the plague has settled in over the Imperfect household. And it sucks.

Sleep would be nice to sleep this crud off, but ya know, there's no sleep to be found for this girl. So I'm nice and cranky and sick. Just keeping it real.

Hope you're all having a great week. Be back soon!

and it happened...

Well, I made it to 34 weeks 5 days before I did it.

I'm honestly shocked it took that long.

Last night, I sent Mr. Perfect out to the grocery store for a food that I simply had to have. And I might have thrown a major conniption fit until he agreed to go get them.

Y'all, I had to have a popsicle so bad I couldn't think straight. In a way, I blame Mr. Perfect. See after his surgery, he was put on a strict liquid diet. So I bought him 3 boxes of assorted flavor popsicles.

I ate about 2 1/2 of those boxes. And I haven't stopped thinking about those things since.

Last night, I had to have one. I dug through the freezer for 10 minutes looking for one even though Mr. Perfect had already told me there were none. I couldn't help it. My eyes welled up with tears and I could feel my lower lip shaking*.

*In my defense, last night was an all time high on the pregnancy hormones, so I don't think this was all popsicle related!

It was cold, dark, late, the pups were already in for the night, but I just knew I wouldn't be able to sleep without that frozen goodness. So we packed it up and headed to the store to get me my fix. At least it's legal...

Mr. Perfect bought the ones that were a dollar more because "they have fruit juice in them". Good looking out hon. I do love you.

Got home and proceeded to eat three of them.

Even had one for breakfast. Seriously, these next four weeks might be a doozy.

women.

Here's what I don't understand. Women have had a hard road to get where we are today. Ladies before us busted their a*$es to work and fight for the things we get to enjoy today. We are a powerful group. We can still rock a board meeting, give birth, run a marathon, and run our daily errands wearing 5 inch heels and a smile. Well... most of the time. We can vote, we can hold incredible jobs, we can voice our opinions and have it heard and taken seriously. Yet, we still have one major thing that is always trying to hold us back.

Other women.

Seriously. What is the deal? I've never understood the cattiness of women. All my life I've been closer with guys. Because you know where you stand with them. I like the whole "what you see is what you get" thing. They're honest.

A woman?

Will stab you in the back quicker than you can say "stiletto". And I do not get it.

If you don't like something that someone says, then don't agree with them. Simple. You don't have to not only disagree, but take their words and belittle them to the point that they feel 2 inches tall. I mean, come on. Some women are prettier, some are smarter, some make prettier babies (hey, I'm honest), but every single person out there is struggling with something. Why do we as a group have to make it harder for us to get through the day?

That's all I've got to say about that. I just don't get it. And I think there's been way too much of it all around lately. Chill out ladies, and put those claws away. It's actually ok to be nice and supportive. Shocker huh?!

oh scary night....

A few weeks back, I survived one of the scariest nights of my life.

And so did the neighborhood cats. Of course, they came closer to death than they even realize.

I had gone to bed pretty early (shocker), so I was asleep when Mr. Perfect came to bed. I do vaguely recall him coming to bed and the dogs coming into the room and settling in for the night. I figured I might as well get up and make one of my 20 nightly bathroom trips since I was kind of awake now anyway.

Just as I was attempting to heave myself out of the bed, I heard this horrible banging noise. All at once, the dogs went nuts and Mr. Perfect was out of bed in less than 2 seconds. I'm still half unconscious, but I remember hearing the noise again. It sounded like an elephant was trying to come through Baby Girl's bedroom window on the front of our house.

Mr. Perfect was out of our room in seconds. Next thing I know he's back in our room hollering at me to get up that someone is trying to break in the house. He tells me to stay in our room with the dogs (who are going bat nuts crazy at this time) and tosses me a banana*.

(*Ok, not really a banana, but one of those scary, metal things that I'm not a fan of. Remember?)

Are you kidding me?

So Mr. Perfect takes off back into the hall with another banana (we are protected in the Imperfect home) and shuts me in the bedroom with the dogs with the instructions to "use all 12 rounds if anyone gets by me". OMG.

I am shaking like a leaf and can still hear the horrible banging outside and yet, all I can think about is how bad I now have to pee. I am almost in tears as I sit there and debate whether I should just chance it and go. I'm afraid I might wet myself if I stay on the floor much longer, but do I really want to get shot while on the toilet if someone does happen to get by Mr. Perfect?!

I decided not to risk it, so I sit there on the cold floor with my dogs and my banana and try not to freak out.

About 5 minutes (ok, it was probably seconds, but y'all, I really had to pee!), Mr. Perfect comes back in the room and he was pissed.

"What's going on?" I managed to squeak out through chattering teeth.

"F*&^ing (told you he was pissed) neighborhood cats are fighting on the roof and throwing each other into the window" he manages to spit out.

Once again, are you kidding me? I almost wet myself over some stray cats?!?

Thankfully that was all it was, however, I was totally terrified. It took me forever to get back to sleep that night. Stupid cats.

Thanksgiving- Imperfect Style

Mr. Perfect and I spent Thanksgiving with his parents and extended family in Smalltown, SC this year. We alternate holidays, Thanksgiving with one family, Christmas with the other, right now and it's always worked well for us. Not sure how it will play out next year with the little one here, but I'll worry about that tomorrow.

We both had to work a half day on the Wednesday before T-day. Complete wast of time as I did nothing for 4 hours. We wanted to get out of here about 12:30 and head north, but of course, we didn't make that. We will be late to our own funerals for sure.

The ride up there of course took longer than planned since duh, we didn't factor in traffic. Mr. Perfect's mom wanted to go look at cribs when we got there, but it didn't look like we were going to make it in time.

Thanks to Mr. Perfect's lead foot, we still got there in great time. We spent Wednesday night walking around Target with Mr.'s family and looking at baby stuff. Overwhelming. I have no idea what this little one needs. I know what I want though.. Maybe those will mesh.

Thanksgiving Day dawned cold and wet. Nice. The Mr. and his little cousin decided to go do some shooting before everyone got to the house for dinner.

Yours truly observing. I don't do guns.

While I was out with the boys, Mr. Perfect got a phone call from his Dad that one of their family cats had been run over. He didn't want Mr.'s Mom to find out so we quickly went to get it taken care of. Mr. Perfect sent me in to "distract" his mom so she wouldn't see them burying the cat. I'm ashamed to admit I had to use our daughter to distract her. Poor girl. Already involved in schemes and hasn't even made it here yet...

We got that taken care of and less than an hour later, Mr.'s Mom gets a phone call from her sister telling her that their other cat has been hit on the highway.

Are you kiddin' me?!?

This was not funny at all, but do you see the irony?! Who has two pets killed in one hour on a holiday!?

Fortunately, the holiday got a little less exciting after that. Tons of family, tons of food, and lots of fun with Mr. Perfect's humongous family.

Us with most of his cousins.

Mr. Perfect had to be at work at 4 the next morning, so we packed up and left right after dinner. It's always fun to spend time with family, but I'm not going to lie; it makes me really cherish our nice quiet existence we have here in Georgia.

Before dinner.

After dinner. Yes I changed into more comfortable clothes for the ride home, although the all black ensemble was definitely a fitting choice for that day.

Not funny, I know.

All in all, very nice holiday. Besides the fact that traveling stinks when you have to stop for bathroom breaks every hours, it was a nice little trip. Hopefully you all had a great Thanksgiving as well!

a friday rant.

Somebody once told me "there's nothing common about common sense". No, he didn't make it up but I have no idea who said it first, so this guy gets credit in my book.

Well, I'm changing it up a bit. I personally think there's nothing common about common courtesy.

I'm not kidding people. I live in the South which is supposed to be friendly by freakin' nature. If this is friendly, well I don't want to see rude and mean.

When I stop in my car to let you walk in front to get in a store, please don't waddle the entire way, playing in your purse, on your phone, whatever. Move your A**! I've got places to go to.

When you are in the left lane and there is a line of cars backed up behind you because you've decided to go the under the speed limit (or the speed limit or just 5 over), then move. Maybe I want a speeding ticket. At least move over and give me the chance to go fast enough to tempt the fates.

Please do not get in the speedy checkout line with 2 carts of crap, and then give me dirty looks when I stand there huffing and puffing holding my 3 items.

Do not let your kids ride their bikes through my front yard. This seriously irks me to no end. I don't walk through your yard, although I'm debating it, in stilettos, so get your munchkins off my lawn. Now.

It's a wonder I have good blood pressure. People make me crazy. Is it just me or is it getting worse by the day? I feel like people in general just feel like they're entitled to act like this. It's not just my sweet, southern hometown is it?!

Man... I miss Mayberry.

just hangin' around

We are still in North Carolina. There is still no word on when the Marine is leaving. Things here are ridiculously unorganized at least that's how it appears from where I'm sitting.

We've been here since early Saturday morning. Friday we headed up to Small Town, South Carolina and spent the night with Mr. Perfect's parents. Not too bad a trip. I managed to stay awake the entire 3 hour drive which is HUGE. Usually I'm the worst road tripper ever. Start driving = start sleeping to this girl.

We hit the road early on Saturday morning to get up to NC. We were told that the Marine would more than likely be heading out sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. That did not happen.

It's been nice though just hanging out up here with the fam. My parents have their camper down here that they're staying in, so we've spent night watching movies and just hanging out. The Marine has a dog that's going overseas with him (part of a group), and we've gotten to go see him work the dog and stuff. We've even managed to help out with their care and walk a few of them (almost killed me). I've got a few pics that I'll put up once I get home.

Anyway. His departure date is now looking like sometime next week. Of course Mr. Perfect and I cannot get back up here. I'm pretty bummed that it looks like I won't actually get to see him off, but at least we had these few days with him. Hopefully they'll get whatever they're waiting on taken care of soon and these boys will know when they're headed out.

Headed home in a few hours. Guess I'll catch up on what you ladies have been up to when I get back to 'ol Georgia.

doobey, doobey doo....

The baby bonanza has hit the big time in Coastal Town, GA. My good friend, KW, had her sweet precious Gabby last Wednesday and I am in love. She's absolutely perfect. Our friend, KP, the Marine, and the husbands went to see her last Wednesday night. Both Mom and daughter were doing excellent. Gabby's temperature had gotten a little low so the docs wanted her to be in constant contact with KW, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have set her down even if the docs said she could!! It's amazing how much one little one can change your life in one minute. I can't wait for my turn!

Since the Marine is still in town, we got the old "crew" together for some Mexican food. Not quite as rambunctious as it once was (I guess we really are growing up!), but I sure do love getting together with everyone. Always a blast.

KP & the Marine

the boys

KW & I with the boys

And don't worry. The younger boys did it like old times when they pounded beers and played Rock Band til four in the morning. Seriously... do these kids work?!?

Kidding. But I was totally pissed I couldn't join in the fun. Jobs stink.

The Marine and I also trucked it out to our hometown for a football game last Friday. I do not remember high schoolers acting the way the way they do now when I was in school. I swear we were more grown up.

But we didn't look like some of the girls now. What is in these kids food?!

He was super thrilled to be at the game.

Seriously, he was.

I got to go visit KW and Miss Gabby this past Tuesday. Oh. My. Soul. She's gorgeous!

Such a good baby...

Currently the hubs and the boys are building a storage unit in our backyard, so my house has become a frat house of sorts. I literally had to climb over bodies to make my way to work this morning. And the storage unit.. oh the storage unit. Have you ever noticed that even the smallest of projects turns into something humongous when you get a group of guys together?! I thought I was getting a storage unit. I was so wrong. In my backyard is a mini Taj Mahal. No joke. I'll show you pictures.

Hope everyone is having a great week! I'm trying to get back in the blogging swing of things. Let's see how this works =)

the state of our union.

Not a good day for celebrity couples huh?

Jon G, you are a douche bag. Yep. I said it. What kind of person runs off to France and leaves behind his 8 children? What kind of person doesn't get Mr. Perfect and I a ticket?!

P.S. Your shirt is hideous.

Then there's our poor girl Jess. Tony, if you didn't want to buy the girl a birthday present or dress up as Ken for her party, then just say so. The day before her birthday, really?!?

Mr. Perfect and I had a bad weekend. We just didn't click. There's those times when everything you say bothers him, and everything he says (and does) bothers you. That was us on Saturday. But then, it's over. Something makes you laugh hysterically and you can't imagine sharing it with anyone else. In our case it was a toad hunt.

The bad times suck, but they're gone so quick. We watched our dog chase a piece of ice around the house last night and laughed hysterically. Apparently we're two but there's no one else I can imagine laughing that hard with. Plus, we're the only ones who find that funny. Every day with him gets a little better, we get a little more comfortable, and we fall into an even better routine. I'm so glad that years after saying "I do" there's no one else I'd rather see at the end of the day, no other name I want to see on my caller id, no other car I want pulling into my driveway.

Thanks for not breaking up with me Mr. Perfect. Thanks for also not wearing ridiculously hideous t-shirts or bailing on my birthday. You're a keeper.

Now if only I could figure out a way to stop his dang snoring.

doctor update

Warning: Post below is full of female medical jargon. Feel free to fly right on past if you want.

A couple weeks ago, we went back to Dr. O for our "monitored ovulation" appointment. Basically he used an ultrasound to see what my ovaries were doing during my current cycle. We went in on Thursday the 18th and saw his nurse for our appointment. Basically everything looked right on track. It was still early (which I knew because I chart, thank you Mrs. Newlywed for helping me with that!), but for the point in my cycle everything looked good. From what she could tell, I was ovulating off my left side and the follicle which I was ovulating from was measuring 16 x 16. Really no idea what that means, but they want it at 20 x 20 to consider the follicle healthy. Also my endometrium (lining of the uterus) was measuring at a 6, which is the minimum they want when you ovulate. Overall, everything looked great for a couple days prior to ovulation. I was thrilled that something was going right.

They wanted me to come back in on Saturday morning to take a look again. So we got up bright and early and headed back up to the hospital, everyone's favorite place to be on their day off. Basically the appointment was craptastic. My follicle was now measuring 17 x 13 and is considered "abnormal" and my endometrium was still only measuring at a 6. It hadn't gotten any thicker at all. It was still early, but the follicle should have been around a 20 x 20 at this point and clearly that wasn't going to happen. The possibility of us doing the next pregnancy try without the use of fertility drugs?

Nonexistent.

Clomid is not an option for me since it tends to thin out your endometrium and mine is already thin enough, so Dr. O sent me for more blood work (vampires!) to figure out his next course.

I. Am. So. Frustrated.

I really thought this was one test that I would ace. I mean clearly I ovulate; I've been pregnant four times for crying out loud. I had a mini-breakdown when leaving on Saturday. Mr. Perfect tried to make me see reason by reminding me that this can be fixed, that there are drugs for this.

Well I know that. But I just wanted one thing to go right.

I had my blood drawn on Monday I had to fast and then go in and get my post ovulation progesterone levels taken and my glucose and insulin tested. Got my results on that today. My progesterone showed that I had ovulated but it was pretty low. Not surprising since it has been low every single pregnancy and I always get put on progesterone shots immediately. My glucose came back good but my insulin came back high. As did my glucose/insulin ratio. I don't really understand much about that. From what the nurse told me, it can predispose you to diabetes but not necessarily. In fact if any of you nurses out there can hook me up with a bit of info about this, I would be forever grateful. I go back Tuesday for a glucose curve (sounds super fun) and then the next Tuesday for a consult.

Know what that means?

We don't try this month. Not until we figure out this new little curve ball.

I am cussing internally. I am so frustrated.

Did I already say that?!?

I think there's a little bucket up in heaven that has my healthy reproductive system in it. I wish it would drop on down. I think my patience and my real nose are in there too. I feel like I'm about to lose it. I'm going to need one thing to go right soon...

We said Goodbye to the King of Pop a while ago..

image (C) enjoyfrance(dot)com

Yesterday while booking it on the treadmill, my cell phone lights up. So I pick it up and read a Tweet that says something like "omg. Michael Jackson what??". I put my phone back down and think how odd that was. Back to booking it and my phone lights up again. Two new messages. I open them and read that Michael Jackson is dead.

I stopped running and yelled "WHAT?!".

Then I had to grab the bar and pull myself up because the treadmill never quit moving. Seriously, Twitter almost killed me.

After I stopped the treadmill, I look at my friend Donner who was running next to me (doing my best to ignore everyone staring at the weirdo who almost fell off the t-mill) and tell her Michael is dead. She doesn't believe me. So I call the Mr. at home and find out it's true. My daggum town wasn't even reporting on it yet!!

It's sad. What's even sadder is when I signed on to Facebook and see statuses about little boys sleeping well at nite now. Gross and uncool. Show some respect. This goes back to how sad I am that my generation missed another icon. I love his music. Love it. But I didn't until I was older and by that time he was a "freak". It's sad that for people my age when you hear Michael's name, it's more likely to pull forth an image of him holding a baby over a balcony or showing up to court in pajamas than a man moonwalking across a stage. The thing is, we will never see another like him. What he did for music and for videos is something that will never be done again. For that I am sad.

At the same time, we said good-bye to the "King of Pop" years ago. Call it what you want, but in this last decade, he has not been the Michael Jackson that graced us with "P.Y.T", "Beat It", or "Rock With You". But respect should be given for his reign in pop culture and I for one was sad to see him go- years ago.

R.I.P Michael Jackson. Your music was and will always be amazing.

My fave...

pedometer = FAIL

I couldn't figure out why my run on Monday almost killed me.

Literally.

I get that it was hot outside (105 to be exact), I get that I was tired from being on my feet all day, but 3 miles almost killing me?!? Not cool.

It also took me 45 minutes to do. Huh?!

I chalked it up to a crappy day. I tried out some new neighborhoods and stuff because I had a handy little pedometer with me that enabled me to go off my regularly scheduled route. I enjoyed the first 3/4 of the run, but I was dying by the time I got home.

Last nite I was on the treadmill doing my run* but also had my pedometer on as well. At the end of my 3 miles (per t-mill) the pedometer said I had ran .7 miles. Are. You. Kidding. Me.
*Twitter and the MJ story almost got me killed yesterday. Details to follow.

I decided to take the car out and get some idea of how far I had actually ran on Monday. It was almost 5 miles. My pedometer tried to kill me.

I have got to get my little Garmin buddy fixed. The pedometer is great for measuring steps during the day, but I just don't think it can distinguish a serious run for distance between walking around all day. Is that right? Or is my pedometer just not working right?

me - 0, summer in savannah - 1

This summer might kill me.

I played in a soccer tournament on Saturday and Sunday mornings this weekend and barely lived to tell about it.

Saturday it rained on and off through our first game. Then poured down through the hour break we got between games. What happened during our 12 pm game?

The sun decided to beat on through and Savannah's 100 % humidity made it's appearance.

I hate trying to breathe and instead feel like I'm drowning.

Plus I got great tan lines because I guess it really is true you get good sun through a cloudy sky.

Then on Sunday it was once again cloudy, overcast, and 100 % humidity. I may have broken records for how much one person can sweat in a weekend.

Mother Nature, you sure can be a d-bag.

i'm playing detective

I'd like to have something interesting to talk about but right now I'm obsessed with other things.

Well, one other thing.

The past 4 mornings, the Mr. and I have woken up to find a big puddle 'o pee at the back door. Fortunately we have hard wood or I'd have tanned a dog hide by now. We can't figure out who's doing it and it's making me crazy.

Naturally the Mr. blamed Cash, our oh so special pup. I disagreed because Cash puts up a huge stink when he needs to go out and I truly think he would wake us.

This past weekend when Ash was here, she brought her female pup down. So maybe she peed there and now the boys are peeing over it. That's option one. But we've sprayed so many cleaning supplies down there that I'm not buying that one. Option two is someone's pissed off about something. I truly don't think my two male dogs have it in them to be spiteful.*

*We've ruled out Lacy because of the smell of the urine..*

Option three is something's wrong with someone and is compromising his ability to hold it. That better be the case because only if something is medically wrong will I forgive them!!

We locked up Cash in his kennel last nite to try and catch our culprit.

There was urine on the floor this morning.

I'm convinced it's Duke. The Mr. is still saying it's Lacy. Or that Lacy is letting Cash out at nite so he can still do it.

Insane.

But he totally rigged up a hidden camera tonite to catch our culprit. Oh, and Duke gets locked up tonite. We WILL get to the bottom of this!!!

I can't believe I just spent a whole post talking about my dogs' bathroom habits. Oh boy.

is it too late to change my mind?!

I would love to do a weekend wrap-up. However, I am exhausted.

I just got back from Charleston where we spent the weekend with my best friend and her kids; 5 year old Mason and my 2 year old goddaughter, Lola.

I might have changed my mind on having kids. Not even kidding.

We rode home from dinner with the kids in our car. Mase decided to play with the GPS and made it repeat "you have reached your destination" over and over and over. The entire 2o minute car ride. When he wasn't playing with that, he was turning the ac on full blast and blaring the radio.

The whole time Lola was in the backseat screaming his name.

My ears were bleeding.

The hubs and I dropped them off at their house and headed to WalMart on my insistence for a few minutes of peace. The minute they got out of the car Mr. Perfect turns to me and cracks up laughing.

"What's so funny?" I snapped.

"You. Your nerves are shot!"

"Are you telling me they weren't making you crazy?!"

"Nope. They're just kids hon".

Oh goodness..... I needed a xanax. I almost quit breathing for some silence.

The Mr. told me when we have kids, I can kiss my peace good bye.

Not true I say. When they're being loud the patient parent can step on in.

back on the fit train.

I've had a hard time getting back into exercising as hard core as I was before my surgery. At first it was because it hurt so darn bad. Now... hmmmm.

I got back into running almost immediately. Then I managed to twist my ankle something fierce. I think I bragged on here about how the ligaments in my ankle are so loose that I've never had a sprained ankle. Consider that streak broken.

So I took some time off from running to let that recover. I still don't think it's quite there yet, but it's close enough.

I also cannot drag my butt to the gym! And if I do, I manage to last about 45 minutes. No where near the 2 hours I was at before! I blame this on summertime. Being in the hot, smelly gym when it's gorgeous outside is as close to prison as I can imagine. Not. A. Fan. So not as much gym time.

Luckily, the Shred came into my life and I'm having a serious love/hate relationship with 'ol Jillian. Unfortunately, I suck at time management and miss some days. Have no fear though.. I will do 30 days in a row, even if it takes me 6 months to do it! I do have to give Jillian credit though; I am seeing serious results from the Shred. So even though I cuss her out like crazy get a little tired of her, I'm definitely sticking with it. This morning I got up and did the Shred before work. While I don't think it gave me any more energy or anything, it was nice to just be able to do my run tonite and come home and not have to worry about the workout. We'll see how long doing it in the am lasts.

All this to say, I'm putting in my miles on the pavement again. And oh how I've missed it!

One problem- I've managed to pick up a few running partners that I am NOT a fan of. Some call them horseflies. I personally call them Little Minions of Satan and I hate them. I think it's the buzzing but they manage to put this intense fear in me like no other. Lately these little buggars (not the b word I wanted!) have been chasing me for my entire run and while I'm putting in good times, I am miserable the entire run.

They are also the reason I twisted my ankle.

So tonite, I packed up Lace and we decided to hit up a new part of town. Oh goodness. Our run started off great. Nice breeze, new scenery, minimal traffic. Then I almost stepped on a 10 foot, venomous snake.

Ok. It was like a 12 inch grass snake, but I saw fangs. Seriously.

We almost had to go back for me to change clothes. Deathly afraid. Lacy didn't even notice. She did notice the cat she tried to pull my arm out of the socket for. Stupid dog. Then on the way back we took a little detour. I was doing everything in my power to avoid that stupid snake. So we're running along and I notice on the house coming up that there's a busted out window. "Odd" I think, since the rest of the house is so well taken care of. Then I notice him. There is an old man sitting in the dark with a telescope lens staring straight at me. Uh. Weird. So we book on past him. We had to go back by his house one more time and now he's standing in the yard, just staring at me. Right when I get to his house, I notice it's not a telescope after all but a camera. And he's straight clicking away as we go by!! Are you kidding me?!?

We will not be running back down that street. Nuh uh.

All that in 2 miles. What will I encounter when I actually have some distance built up again?!
