7 months.

My angel turned seven months old last week.

Le sigh..

As evidenced by this picture, she is all over the place. She won't sit still. Gone are the days of her letting me cuddle her and hold her and rock her. While I love her independence, I miss my baby!

We just went to her six month well visit last week. Lots going on here and so we're a bit behind.. whoops. But at her visit she weighed in at 20.8 pounds and was 28 inches long. She's still topping the charts.

She eats three "meals" a day and takes 4 6 ounce bottles a day. We started food this past month and besides one instance where she didn't seem to care for green beans, we have yet to find a food this kid won't eat. She gets fruit, vegetables, "meat" (which smells vaguely like cat food), oatmeal, and rice cereal. She loves her food.

First time with sweet potatoes- first food!*

She is wearing mostly 9-12 month clothing. Twelve month in most. Nine can be a little snug. :)

She sleeps from 7.30 - 7.30 every night. We are so, so lucky. And we know it. She also takes two naps a day; 9.30 - 11, and then from about 1.30 -3.30.

Here's what you've been up to this past month Baby Girl..

  • You know how to pull the bumper pads in your crib down so that you can see out. No more sneaking in your room to see if you're sleeping!

  • You have taken multiple road trips, including a ten hour one with just your Mom. Which was hard, but a total blast. You are really, really good in the car. Thank goodness since we've spent a ridiculous portion of this past month on the road!

  • You can go every direction in your walker now. And fast.

  • You can get from sitting to on your belly on your own.

  • You are so good at grabbing toys, going after them, picking them up, and transferring them from hand to hand. At the moment, your toy laptop and the soccer ball are big time favorites of yours.

  • You very clearly say "dada" and "mama" but still not in relation to us. The race is on to see who gets called their respective name first!

  • You celebrated Halloween with multiple Halloween related activities; pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting/carving, and trick-or-treating. You had a blast with everything. We might have had more fun than you!

  • You went to visit both sets of grandparents this past month. Recap still in the work on those...

  • We discovered you are so going to be a soccer player. :)

  • You are slightly obsessed with your soccer ball rattle. It has surpassed Sophie in the favorite toy category by far. You will not put it down. And you will cry if we take it from you. Hard. Which is why it is in so many pictures from this past month.

  • While we were at Nonny & Pops a couple weeks ago, you completely destroyed your excellent sleeping streak. You were up every hour, fighting sleep, getting up ridiculously early, and tossing and turning all night. It was a disaster. I couldn't figure out what you're deal was. Then a few days later when we were home again, we noticed how red and swollen your bottom gums were and a few days later on your 7 month birthday, your bottom two teeth broke through. That would explain it!

  • We haven't had too many problems with separation anxiety except for a few times at night. When you are really tired or you don't feel well, you only want me to hold you. And I love it. But you're fine when we drop you off at the Kyndal's and the church nursery.

  • You are still such a happy, happy baby.

  • You are obsessed with the webcam. Every time we sit down to Skype, you are all about getting the camera. The people we Skype with literally see little fingers coming at them for the duration of the call.

  • You still love bath time.

  • During your nighttime/bedtime routine, we clean out your ears and brush your hair. You love it. Literally during those two things is the only time you are still all day.

  • You are a pro at the sippy cup and at holding your bottle.

  • You make us smile every single day little one. You joy is infectious and you can literally turn our worst days into a great one. We are so, so blessed by you angel.

    first halloween- part 3.

    Final recap.

    Maybe.

On Halloween night, we decided to add a new tradition to our family. Next year we'll do it the week before but this year was pure crazy town.

I actually got this idea from my friend Sara. We never painted pumpkins as a child but when I saw her pictures of how much fun her little boy (BG's boyfriend!) was having, I knew we would have to do the same.

So we rolled out some packing paper (yay for having it laying around..) and set her up for some painting fun in the kitchen.

It took her all of .02 seconds to dive in.

Good call on covering up the cabinets babe...

Yea. So it was messy. But an absolute blast. I can't wait to do this every year!

    the best worst day ever.

    Yesterday was a horrible day.

Or it was an absolutely amazing day.

    Hmm...

Depends on how you look at it. Some things happened that made it the worst day I've had in a while.

But then some things happened that made it rock.

Yesterday I overslept big time. Being rushed does not do good things to my mood. Add in the fact that our house is half packed and very messy and I can't find jack, and you end up with a very pissed off girl before I've even had a cup pot of coffee.

BG wanted to play with her food instead of eat, wanted to have two dirty diapers in the span of ten minutes, and wanted to play instead of get dressed.

I couldn't find scrubs, couldn't find my keys, and spilled my Cheerio's (which I had to eat out of a measuring cup because I couldn't find a bowl).

    Le sigh..

Finally I got the two of us out the door, BG still rocking her pajamas. Got loaded in the car, got behind the wheel, and.. nothing.

    My daggum car wouldn't start.

    Y'all. I lost it.

I got BG back out of the car and called my Papa to come jump off the car. I was bawling as I waited on him to get there.

So I took BG back to her room to play for a bit and while we were back there...

..she figured out how to crawl!!!!!

And I was there. Which I would have totally missed had my car started.

Not that I'm pleased as punch at my car for sucking at life, but you know, just trying to put it in perspective.

After a day at work in which the computers crashed and clients were in rare form, I got in the car (after having to have it jumped off again- grr) and headed to pick up the little one.

Who was in a glorious mood. Smiling, laughing, and lighting up when she saw me.

I've mentioned before how much I love her right?!

Then last night, my child ate her dinner with no fighting, smiled and laughed through her bath, let me rock her while she rubbed my face, and went to bed little resistance. Where she promptly slept through the night which she hasn't done in weeks.

Sometimes I need a shake up on my perspective on life.

Yesterday was one of those days. So while it was one of the worst days I've had in a while and made me cry multiple times, it was also great.

    BG does that.

    halloween recap- part. 2

*you can read about the first part of BG's first Halloween here*

After BG woke up from her afternoon nap, it was time to get her in her costume and go meet up with some friends to do some trick-or-treating.

Now I may be biased (ha!), but I'm pretty sure this is the cutest little duck I have ever seen..

I could just eat her up!

We went by my grandparents first so she could get her first piece of Halloween candy. In her super generic pumpkin tote. Blah. But I forgot to order her the cute monogrammed one. Then I forgot to get her one at all. I had to run in to K-Mart (shudders) on the way to trick-or-treat. I may have pushed a kid out of the aisle to get the. last. one. Or I may not have. You'll never know.

    Back to my story.

We went and got us BG some candy.

Then made our rounds around the neighborhood for everyone to "ooh" and "ahh" over her.

Finally we headed out to meet up with some friends and get down to business. We decided to go trick-or-treating with our friend, KP, and her sister in law and family. We had a great time. Nonny went with us as well as my bestie, AP. There were a ton of kids out. I haven't seen that many in years. It was so much fun. Even though carrying around my 20 pound duck had me sweating buckets. All in good fun right?

After a while, it was clear the girls were getting super cranky.

    And so were the babies.

So we decided to hoof it back to my friend Liz's house for some refreshments.

    And pictures duh.

We had such a good time. I'm so glad that we have friends to do all this fun stuff with. I know BG won't remember it, but I'm so glad that even in the midst of the chaos that is our lives right now, we still put her and her activities first.

And I'd say she had a pretty good time....

    first halloween. part 1

I would love to say that I'm going to sit down and knock out the recap of BG's First Halloween in one sitting.

But I know myself. And I know that will never happen.

So I'll break them up. Because honestly, first and foremost this blog is for her. So I want every detail as monotonous as that may be.

That, and there are so many pictures that I think are too cute not to post, so I'm posting them all.

It's my blog and I'll do what I want to. ;)

I guess our fun Halloween activities started with the pumpkin patch which was a total blast. Unfortunately, since we are trying to move and pack and are kind of living in different states right now, a lot of our Halloween activities got pushed into one weekend. Which was fine. They still happened.

Mr. Perfect was at home with us this past weekend so we could pack. But we both knew that this weekend was also BG's time, so we packed when she napped and slept. When she was awake, it was her time to do her activities. I love my husband. He trucked right along with us and gave me no problems cramming a ridiculous amount into one weekend.

Our town did our trick-or-treating on Saturday. That morning we got BG up for a little photo shoot in her "My First Halloween" pajamas.

    Yes. I'm that Mom.

But first we had some hardcore "Dad's been out of town so let's get him up early and play" playtime. And it was awesome. We've missed that man.
    -
Then it was photo shoot time!

Each year, we've tried to get a picture of the pups with the pumpkin:
    2006

    2007

    2008

    ...oops
    2009

So of course we had to try this year right?? (Ignore my backyard. My yard guy moved to Greenville ;) )

    Not happening.

I'd rather take pictures of this girl anyway.

    She makes my heart smile.

And you like that rattle? Yea. Good luck taking that from her at the moment. They're like peas and carrots those two. Love having it in EVERY picture.

After her afternoon nap, it was time to costume it on up!

But that will have to be tomorrow. Because my eyes are crossing!
